Reality Crew.com
I have started offering a seminar series in response to the demand for Sound Mixers. Reality TV in a large way has created an unending demand for skilled production people. Sound Mixers especially are in short supply as few people understand the importance of quality sound in this realm of unscripted television. Dialog drives the majority of what is considered a 'scene' in this style of programming. The crew's ability to capture a moment that actually makes it into an edited episode rests solely on the ability of the Sound Mixer. Sound Mixing
As a Production Sound Mixer, I have travelled internationally and worked on a wide variety of formats including; Reality TV, Documentary, Feature Film, Commercial, and News Magazine. I started out as Studio Engineer working with bands to record music. From this I discovered that:
- I'm not a very good musician which is practically a requirement for a career in music and
- my fundamental understanding of gear and electronics combined with a love of adventure meet perfectly in on-location filming as a Production Sound Mixer.
The diverse world of Mixing has taken me to some strange places and conclusions. Read more by clicking on my resume above.
Sound Consulting
In addition to working with individual technical crew members through my seminar series, I guide production companies through audio problems before they happen. Sometimes this is using the right equipment for their show, knowing how to staff or addressing the needs of the Audio Department while shooting internationally.
